Many people still do not see the subtle extent of emotional abuse. Too many people consider name calling, yelling, and teasing as normal. Are you one of these people who have been subjected to this kind of abuse while growing up such that it seems normal now as an adult? It is important to now label calling people derogatory names such as "stupid," "idiot," "dummy," "fatty," and "lazy" as emotional abuse.
It is possible that this kind of abuse may be continuing for you as an adult because it seems normal. Only you may now be the abuser and passing it on to your children because that is what you consider discipline, and it seems normal because that is your experience while growing up.
